Looking forward to our next recording project I wanted to see if anyone has a used nylon string Maccaferri Concert copy they want to sell. I am willing to consider anything half way decent. Please contact me at <!-- e --><a href="mailto:caravan@gypsyswing.com">caravan@gypsyswing.com</a><!-- e --> if you have one. Maybe we can work something out. By the way I am currently selling the maple 14f Anouman that Michael has in stock

Does it have to be a Maccaferri concert?
A wonderful, beautiful guitar though it is, apparently Django used a Herman Hauser when it came to playing the nylon string guitar ( www.hauser guitars.com. Herman Hauser II paragraph 2) if one were concerned with authenticity when it came to that "special Django sound".
I'm sure that a qualified luthier in your area would be able to produce a Hauser copy were an actual one or a prototype not readily available.
You can see a video of Julian Bream playing Nuages with Stephane Grappelli on You Tube in order to get some idea of what it would sound like were Julian Bream actually Django.
Julian is playing what looks like a 1940 Herman Hauser.

Hi Caravan, can't help with a Maccaferri classical but I found this for sale on the Manoucheries website.

    http://www.manoucheries.com/list_ann.ph ... um_ann=147

Can I ask, can anyone tell me are there any recordings of Django playing a classical ?

I don't have one for sale, but Hirade makes a Macca classical with pre-amp that's fantastic. You might be able to find a used one on ebay.

Barry Wahrhaftig of Hot Club of Philly (Manouche dealer) has a nylon-string Manouche Maccaferri copy which I think might be available for sale. I'll PM you with his email in case you're interested.
