Argentine string consistency?

plectromanplectroman Albany New YorkNew
Am I the only one who's getting frustrated with putting on a fresh set of argentine strings only to find that they seem to under gauge, particularly on the 1st & 2nd. I was on the gig and felt like my action turned to mush, lost volume etc. Sheesh! Anybody else noticing?

I never noticed this problem....keep in mind that if you were using a different brand of strings previously you will have to set up your guitar all over again to work with Argentines. They usually have a more supple, lower tension feel then most other brands because they have a round core. However, this shouldn't matter on the the first two unwound strings.

Anyway, you might need to shim your bridge a bit higher.

I have an Argentine frustration. My "G strings" have been unraveling again! I'm not making a weird joke here either... O.K kind of, but it is a pain! The windings are breaking at each fret within the first few days of play and only on the G. It seemed like they had that problem fixed for a while.

I also have two friends who are exeriencing this problem again as well. Imagine three dudes sitting around discussing their G strings....
