Samois 2009 advice

Hi, I went to Samois first time last year, and was so smitten that I'm currently looking into going this year as well.
In 2008 I stayed at the Petit Barbeau campsite, which was nice because of the walking distance to the festival site.
This year I'm planning on staying at the Samoreau site, and I'm wondering whether I need to book a place for my tent. How would I go about doing this if needed?

Hello there, like you I went to Samois for the first time last year and stayed in Le Petite Barbeau - which I loved except for the mad italian sax player who blasted out his tootles at all hours.

Anyway, this year I'm staying in Fontainebleau as I have the missus and the sister in law with me. Last year I visited Samoreau and it was so busy they were even camping outside the fence on the banks of the Seine. I woudl imagine booking is a good idea - I have just tried to find a website where you can book but cant find it at the moment.

I take it you know that Samoreau is further away than Le Petite Barbeau - thats what would deter me but maybe you've got that sussed.

I'll keep looking for the Samoreau site - I'm sure I saw it online last year.

The other thing I wondered about was if we could all post pics of ourselves so that when we get to Samois we might recognise each other ?

Everyone on this forum has the ability to upload a tiny photo and use it as your avatar.

Both campings have their pros and cons, I like Samoreau better for the music, BTW my brother plays sax and he's coming this year so be adviced!

You have to call to make a reservation which is strongly adviced.

As for pictures of us there's this:

    I'm in there somewhere.

    See you there!

Bluesbop Harrys link above takes me to exactly what I wanted. I know you can use a pic of yourself as an avatar but most people don't and I doubt I'd be able to recognise many people from their avatar pics. Take Pinkgary for example - does he look as out of focus in real life ? lol

Anyway, I'll get one up as soon as possible.

PS Bluesbop, did you and the baguette live happily ever after ?

Depends what you've been smoking!!!! And to confuse matters even more, i don't even have pink hair any more (which used to be a dead giveaway, even from the other side of a field).

I'll put a pic up on that thred too, as i'm planning Samois for the first time this year, i'd be good to actually talk to some of you.

I tried to book Samoreau on Monday and it was full! They dont have a website as far as I can see, just a phone number. Most people re-book for the next year when they are leaving the site. Now waiting for an email reply from Barbeau.

I think the most common question I was asked when I went in '06 is "Are you dennis chang?". I'll probably have t-shirts made for next time "No, I'm not dennis". So that's my advice to you if you resemble dennis chang in any way.

Maca, I booked Petit Barbeau last year and never received an email but a regular snail mail letter. It's a great campsite too with big trees and I'm told the level of music has raised considerably in the last couple of years, you can always visit Samoreau during the night and go back to sleep to Barbeau the next morning.
Good luck and see you there!
