You found the Francois Castiello album?! Where? It's out of print ... I would love to find it also. He's great, especially with Bratsch, if you're into the eastern European tzigane influences.
You can see a great video of Jean-Claude Laudat on the web, if you go to video.google.com and type in Patrick Saussois. It brings up an excellent 45 minute documentary on Parisian gypsy jazz starring Saussois, and features his bandmates in Alma Sinti. And then if you click to see more videos by the same user, he has around 50 videos by various gypsy jazzers. Encroyable.
Haven't heard of Rony Verbiest or Jokke Schreur ... what type of music?
I'm currently awaiting the arrival of the CD "Flamingos" by sax player Max Nagl and accordionist Otto Lechner. I've heard them play together in Nagl's avant garde/Ellingtonian/Old European big band and really enjoyed the results. I'm interested in hearing what they do in a more intimate setting.
Yeah, Bratsch is really good. They have a 2-disc "best of" called "Nomades en vol" which I really recommend. Incidentally, they're playing in Los Angeles on September 1st - they rarely play in the US. Go to www.bratsch.com and click on 'concerts'.
I have 2 CDs of Otto Lechner playing with Accordion Tribe, very interesting.
Have you heard David Venitucci's "Cascade"?
