Hi Michael
I am Bernie, a newly registered member from France.
Though I really like this website I find full of valuable information, let me start by complaining for my almost first message(!!)...Or better, by pointing out some problems I have found with the recordings of some guitars.
Not that I find the the sound of the place where you are recorded "wet" or poor in any way. Nor that I think the equipment to be a bit short either. All this sounds satisfactory to me...
But some guitars are recorded - or reported - at a very low level compared to normal...That's the case with the Altamiras M01, M10 or M30 for instance. Where one might think those guitars to be definitely far less powerful than the original Selmers or new Dupont for instance, the level of your voice's recordings throughout these instruments reviews shows it ain't right...(it's barely enough for a proper listening with all volumes full).
It happens as well with a La Fée guitars, and with a Paris Swing 39 model at least too...All at page 7.
So tell us Michael, these makes don't allow significant profits or what? - (just kidding)...
I guess some kind of technical problem occurred there, so I had to point it out as I happened to be interested in those guitars, and therefore noticed it...
Best regards, and congratulations for this very valuable work all together. Many thanks.
Bernie.

The videos with lower levels, an overly reverberant sound, or of generally poorer quality were recorded with earlier, less sophisticated equipment and/or in a different space that wasn't ideal. Also, it took me a while to find the optimal volume level that was loud enough for good fidelity without overpowering the camera's preamp and/or tweaking YouTube's own compression.
Generally the vids made in the last several months have all of these issue fixed.
Hello
Seems like you didn't get it right. Recordings done shorty before and after those I was talking of, and in the same location sound okay...I was dealing with videos shot on feb 26, 2012 specifically - or post this day -, not with earlier recordings I've seen that would match your answer accurately. Those I pointed out are somehow even more problematic...These remarks in case some kind of easy resetting should be possible...
Best regards,
Bernie.

Feb 26, 2012 was almost a year ago. Not sure which videos you're talking about. The most recent, those of Jan 2013, have the best settings and audio quality.
Page 7, date feb 26, 2012. Altamira guitars(M01, M10, M20, M30), Paris Swing 39 guitar, La Fée "Mélusine"(D hole) guitar, among others (all guitars recorded this day) as indicated...Have a listen ( a very low volume throughout all these reviews).

Yes, I know. As I mentioned above, only the videos recorded in recent months have been optimized. Older ones, like the ones you mentioned, have some issues like low volume etc. At some point I may redo some of those but for now they'll have to do. If you turn the volume up on your computer you can still hear them pretty well.
