Django's technique-what's happening with that middle finger?

Hey guys,
I was just wondering if anyone knows why Django tucks his right-hand middle finger up when he plays? I've noticed none of the other GJ's do it, and Django even does it in the clip o him playing electric. Maybe i'ts just a quirk of his playing with no real importance, but it's always made me curious.
