Sorry, I've never played that model. I've heard mixed reviews but can't say much until I actually play one.

I have an oval hole rosewood version of the Gallato 1939, and I like it a lot. It's a very well built instrument with good sound. A couple of pros tried it out at Django in June last week and thought it was quite good and just needed a lot of playing to open it up. I got mine from Norman Ort at gypsyguitar.de, and he was great to deal with. As Norman said, it's not a Dupont, but it's got the French sound for a lot less.
