I use ball end Argie 11's on my US Hommage and have never had this problem. I think Enrique may be right about certain guitars.

On the same guitar it happened with loop ends but not ball ends.

After playing for a while with a "lighter touch" I can confirm that this improves the life-span of the G-string considerably for me. Evidently, I was putting way too much pressure on the strings.

The G is a weak spot on these kinds of strings. I notice the same problems with classical guitar G strings as well.

If your G is always wearing out oin the same spot perhaps you notice a gap in the windings), then the issue may be a frent crown problem, or a pparticularly sharp fret. Nothing that a periodic fret levelling wouldn't cure.
