I'm looking for a chart or lead sheet for "Stardust". Anyone got one they could share?

Thanks,

Greg

Thanks. You must also play bass. I do as well... but maybe not as well as you :)

I'm very new to GJ on guitar - please feel free to pass on any tips. How did you learn? Any particular books, videos ... secret handshakes?

    Thanks.

The secret??? Not sure I know, but here is what I recommend 1) First get all the Nolan, Horowitz, and Denis Chang books and DVDs you can afford (there are others, but this is where we all mostly started) 2) Get a decent GJ guitar that is EASY to play and that has a nice full sound for both rhythm and lead (highly recommend calling Michael H for suggestions) 3) Listen and watch (via YouTube) as much GJ as you can tolerate 4) Learn heads and chord patterns and play along with backing tracks everyday (Stephen Wremble has some free ones on his site - but the Nolan stuff is top notch and worth the $$$ 5) find jamming buddies and get together often 6) go to all the Djangofests and Django in June type events that you can afford and attend ALL the workshops. 7) Play with top players when you can 8) Have fun.

I left out some important ones like: quit your day job, forget about girls, get a black tee shirt with a Django photo on it, buy an expensive pick, learn how to "busk" for tips, save up and go to Samois :-)

Thanks for the info. So far I have none of those. Of those three, any particular one to start?

What kind of GJ guitar do you play? Believe it or not, it seemd that no one stocks them in Chicago.

    Thanks.

    1) The Nolan play along books and his gig book are where to start IMO. Next get the Denis Chang DVD series ( 4 DVDs). Then the Horowitz picking and comping books. These materials will cost you around $600 - but well worth it if you really want to play this style.

    2) I now play a Dupont MD-50. Try the Gitane John Jorgenson guitar as a starter. Not as full sounding as a Dupont - but also much less expensive. You should look for a used one under $1,000.

Call Michael Horowitz and get his ideas as well.
