Just thought i'd bring attention to this great clip of the most underrated guitarist in the style imo-- Matcho Winterstein---awesome right hand technique!!
The clip is from the UK Gossington festival a couple of years back. Matcho is jamming (for hours) prior to going on stage and playing a devastating set. One of the best performances I've seen, although he had a disconcerting habit of looking directly at us with this challenging expression before unleashing a breath taking phrase. Needs someone to record him as no cd's available (i got one from Ritary ages ago but thats it )
Agree, Thijs from Moustache guitars is a top man and the lefty I got from him has everything. Worth investigating if you are in the market.

I think Matchos an awesome player--such a shame hes never recorded(he absolutely hates his playing on the ritary cd!)His style is pretty unique i think-- a great combination of Alsace attitude and bebop chops--his right hand is unbelievable isn't it?
Yes he does look a pretty fierce character but i always remember what Vicky Cosimini said about him-"what you have to realise about Matcho is that hes really Billy Bunter!!"
Do you know what he's up to now ? Haven't seen him listed around the uk recently.
Yes his right hand is unbelievable. I believe the chap that ran that restaurant gig in Dorset (uk) videoed his whole Gossington set - which I'd love to see. Another feature of that gig was Matcho & Ducato didn't appear to be telling Colin Cos. what they were playing next ! Also Matcho trying to sell the guitar he was playing.

Hi Ray
I know Matcho got married a couple of years back and is the proud father of twins--according to Ducato hes playing better than ever but hes a bit isolated in Nancy i think
Trying to persuade Sylvia to get him to the Que later this year and record it
Incidentally Ducato is really turning into an awesome lead player very much in the Matcho mould--very Django circa 1949--the videos on youtube in no way reflect his playing now-
Give him a couple of years and he'll be up there with the big boys i predict
Cheers

Matcho rules! Really powerful sound.
Matcho's playing is well complemented by Herve's rhythm playing (one of the best rhythm players out there).
