Hi, all. Apologies again to all you double/triple/quadruple forum members; I'm just trying to cover all the bases. Disclaimer done, here we go:
Due to the intricacies of love (who can understand it?), I may be
relocating to Philly sometime this year or next; probably in the
spring months. I wonder if any of our Penn brethren can give me some
leads on a few things, namely:
1) Who can I play with? Love or no, I can't not play.
2) How's the job market? I've been managing an art house cinema for a
few years-projecting, office work, payroll, print traffic, hiring,
etc.-and also have experience writing and editing, as well as a BFA (I
majored in drawing), and I was once the Student Poet of Connecticut,
if that helps. Any ideas?
3) Where the hell should I live? Philly is huge, to me, and I see all
these neighborhoods-Fishtown, Northern Liberties, Brewerytown, etc.,
but I don't have any idea what they mean, in the end. I hope some of
you can give me some street-level information about all this. I'm not
necessarily looking for the best neighborhood; I just don't want to
lose my guitar, or have to replace auto glass too often. I may also
be in the market for a house of my own in a year or so, if that matters.
Many thanks,
Jack.
