Side Ports

Anybody have a guitar with a side port? If so what are the perceived effect on tone/volume?

I have also been curious about this as an idea for the petite bouche models--would you be able to hear a sound closer to what the listener experiences (directly in front of the petite bouche sound hole)?

Shelley Park offers this feature in her guitars, I don't think it comes standard though, but there are many examples at http://www.parkguitars.com/

I have not played one w/ a sideport, so I cannot offer any insight, but I have played a Park before at a jam, really sweet guitar.
