I've just realised I actually have the 1969 Disques Vogue LP with "Clair de Lune" on which identifies Kosma as the composer and says it was recorded "for a film by Marcel Carné which has never been shown". I also have another LP titled "Django Reinhardt Unissued Titles 1937-1947" which includes "Clare (sic) de Lune" and although it does not have a date on it, I feel it is more recent than the Disques Vogue one.
Hi bad news. I received an answer from the music center in charge of the copyrights of Joseph Kosma and they could not give me more information.
They dont know about the lyrics written by Etienne Bloch.
This specialist told me that, in her opinion, she can hear some characteristics of Kosma music in the melody of Clair de Lune but it does not prove anything.
If you are interested, the songs written by Kosma for the movie that we know are La Chasse a l enfant and La Belle vie (lyrics of Jacques Prevert)
That melody doesn't ring Django as a composer in my mind.
Those changes aren't Django like. Of course that's just my ear telling me, I don't have anything concrete to base it on.
I'm curious if anyone's found more information on this? I've been trying to see if there's any versions of Clair de Lune with the lyrics. Has anyone recorded a modern version of this?
