I had a good chuckle when I read: "There is nothing abstruse or difficult about this music."
Did anybody here on the forum go to the Quecumbar festival? I've been dying to hear about it, and this Guardian article is the first coverage I've seen.

The only night i could get in was the 'finale' night with Stochelo,Ritary and Lollo--i was pissed off not to get into the 1st night with Adrien,David and Sebastian;no ones fault but my own--so used to being able to turn up at the door on the night of one of the 'prestige' gigs that i was surprised to find the whole festival sold out--its been nice at least to see the general buzz surrounding the music because of the festival in the UK media
The last night was a little anticlimatic though--Ritary and Lollo come from such different directions in this music that there was a tangible lack of chemistry imo--Stochelo was his usual efficient professional self but as usual i missed the melodic aspect of Django's music (which you also find in Bireli, Rockys and Adrien's playing) and is the key to the music imho.
Still it was fun to hang out with Titi Bamberger(a true gentleman),who'd made a surprise visit to the UK ,Kussi Weiss and most of all the great Feigly Prisor. The whole week was filmed and recorded for later CD/DVD release you will be pleased to know.

I went to see Les Doigts De L'homme on the monday night who were frankly astonishing. Imaginative, tight and witty arrangements played by virtuoso musicians. Brilliant!
