Re Copyright - in the UK at least
You may be familiar with Dave Kelbie's excellent playalong CD - the Sauce - available from http://www.lejazzetal.com/web/content/index.php if so you'll notice that the songs have altered names, e.g. Nuages become New Ages etc.
I had a conversation with Dave on thsi subject and he said that the reason was that he had been led to believe that it was necessary to avoid copyright infringement but that he since learned that chord sequences, which is all that the chord sheets and the backing tracks are, are not covered by copyright. It's the melody line itself which is copyrighted.
IF you think about it it makes sense, how many songs - e.g. blues - have the same chord sequence so if it was that sequence that inferred uniqueness leading to copyright protection then songs would infringe other songs all the time. Think of it like an alphabet, the formation, order and structure of words leading to a narrative is what's copyrighted not the individual letters.
Chord sequences on their own don't imply melody - well they do sort of to some people in terms of hearing or imagining a melody over the top - but they don't have a corresponding unique melody attached. The creation of unique melody/tune is the copyrighted item.
That's very informative. Thank you. I don't have the heads to any of the songs, so I would imagine it's okay. Is that why the Robin Nolan book is so expensive (because he had to acquire all of the rights)?

Yep, he'll be paying a royalty on each song to the relevant publisher and given that there are a lot of tunes in there you can see why it's expensive.
I just bough the iReal Book application - it is available for both iPhones and open source Android phones (what I have).
It is pretty sweet - has over 300 tunes and cost just under $8. It means I always have these changes with me... And most importantly, it will let you transpose any tune on the fly!
Sadly, it doesn't have a lot in the way of Jazz Manouche, it is much more straight ahead, but still, I play a lot of dixieland and swing too, so it works well for me
Look again: open the app, look in the forum under Jazz, then Gypsy Jazz. There are a couple of playlists with 300 tunes included...
Sadly, this is only for the iPhone. For some reason he hasn't allowed updating yet for the Android phones, which sucks. But, it is supposed to be coming... I'll be happy to use the editor to make my own charts.

This is now called iReal b, and it is available for Android! I just downloaded it to my Asus Transformer and picked up a gazillion jazz tunes from their forum, including a large number of GJ tunes. Not only can you transpose, you can edit the songs as well. If you don't care for the changes in the chord sheet, you can insert your own. It also has a player, so you can use these tunes as backing tracks.
In case you didn't see the first post, here is what it looks like:
I like the look of this (no apps for me). I use a 3 ring binder with a bunch of Grilles in alpha order and plastic sleeves to protect the pages. Good to have a flip book, but can be a little heavy to lug around. The cards look a little more handy. I would maybe laminate them for heavy duty use. Also add to the song list:
Ain't Misbehavin'
Beyond the Sea
Brazil
Fly Me to the Moon
More
Stompin' At the Savoy
The Lady is a Tramp

Swang on,
I also using binders to protect my gig books and other files important for me. Twinlock binders are good binders for doing that because they are really affordable and has good quality.

Does that make sense
