This is what I hear for Eva's version (in C), I think it makes things a bit clearer, at least for me.
The A is 'just' a minor 2/5/1 to the second degree (Dm), then another minor 2/5/1 to the tonic (C). Then a regular major 2/5/1 as turnaround.
Simple and logical, but the altered chords bring in really nice color notes.
I also love that version btw, I think Eva and Thomas really nailed it.
