Hey all, I play a lot standing up and want to use a strap on my gypsy jazz guitar. Where oh where can I mount the strap button on the neck so it wont get in the way?

  • I installed mine on the back of the neck (toward the bottom) right at the 13 fret. That's pretty much where I always install strap buttons on acoustic guitars. I balances the guitar so that it doesn't fall away from you if you're not holding it.

As for the other strap button, I simply widened the bottom (toward the back) mounting hole in the tailpiece. Eventually, that will probably be widened again to accommodate a jack for some arrangement of pickups.

In the interest of full disclosure, my Selmac wasn't at all expensive... which is why I'm willing to tinker with it.
