Just heard that the renowned French Luthier Roger Jacobacci passed away at the age of 79 after a long battle with cancer.

His archtops were used by many French/Gypsy jazz musicians (Bousquet, Marcel Bianchi, etc)...even Frank Zappa had one!

He is going to be burried the day after tomorrow i.e. Monday, May 3, 2010 in Fontenay-le-Comte, a small town where he retired years ago. I met both André and Roger in the 90's when I decided to change the PU's of my Gibson ES175DN (I must have been crazy that day). I also met Jacques Favino many years before the Jaco's at the time when I had very few income as I was just a teenager.
Regards and thanks for accepting me here.
    Gilbert from France.
