hello everyone, are there any people in the phoenix area who i can get together with , i've talked to people at guitar stores and in nightclubs, at walmart, no luck. where the hell are you, i'm desperate thank you
yeah, if Walmart sold gypsy guitar players then most of us would be out of business already...
you could start your own community by just first finding one other person who wants to learn and then have weekly jams and invite people to the jam with a flyer and after a year or so you would probably have a bunch of people to play with...
I don't know how old this is (my guess is a few years), but there was someone on the Hotclub.uk site looking for people to play with: http://www.hotclub.co.uk/html/searcher.html
Also get in touch with the guys from the Hot Club of Tucson; Allin could probably point you in the right direction...
thanks jack, djangology. i've had flyers up for awhile now, if i could just get that first person. i love playing rythm, never needed to solo all night,
five sixths of the gig is almost enough. bad joke. thanks again
Hello Bob,
Allin in Tucson here. I responded to the past threads regarding Djam's in the southern AZ area. No response from those guys. I host Djams here in Tucson once or twice a year. I have performed with 5 different Gypsy Jazz bands throught the years. Two in the Phoenix area. There are a lot of players not only in Pheonix and Tucson, also the surounding areas in Benson and Sierra Vista also.
Email me and we'll chat and set something up for sure.
Here is a list of Gypsy Jazzers that are in Southern AZ.
Jazzola with Chris Daniels, Tempe.
Hot club of Sierra Vista with David Kaemmer, Violin.
Desert Hot Swing with Daniele Spadavecchia and Chuck Hulihan, Glendale
Hot Club of Prescott with Jack Peterson.
Poor Django's Almanac, Tucson.
Hot Club of Tucson, my band that is on hiatus at the moment.
I have performed with all these guys with the exception of Jack.
There are others I know of, just not seen or heard them.
Hot club of Glendale...
And others that escape my mind at the moment...
I give lessons also.
Best regards,
A.K. http://www.hotcluboftucson.com http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NocFFszldQY
May be we can light a fire under those guys from the early posts.
Just saw your post on your new Collins. I'll post a comment there.
Hot Club of Flagstaff also, there are a few players up there willing to travel for a jam. And yes, my student's group, Hot Club of Glendale, who are all out at DjangofestLA as I type this, having a blast Im sure.
