Having found the chords to the first part to swing 42 ( C, Am, Dm7, G7) relatively easy to come by, I was wondering what some of you all use to spice it up?

Any suggestions would be appreciated - I am planning to play in a trio with sax and bass, so I want something that livens things up.

Thanks.

Often the Am is changed to A7 - then you can use tritone substitution to make a chromatic chordal thing - C6/9 - Eb9 - Dm9 - C#9

A simple one, 2 beats each, that stays pretty "in" harmonically:
    C, Am, Dm7, G7, Em7/B, A13/Bb, Dm7/A, G13Ab, Gm6 etc...
