    Yeah, humidity.
I used to think 40 - 60% humidity was good. Now I just shoot for 40.
One of my favorite guitars though sounds good dryer, but for safety I keep em at 40.
I doubt the following is your problem, but I like sharing experiences.
The way the bridge fits (or not) on the top can really change the sound. If I remember, some of the Gitanes have relief on the bottom ends of the bridge, but in any case get the light so your able to see any gap between bridge and top. Any gap is a bad thing.

I sympathize "Ahhhhhg, my guitar!, What's happening?"

    MIRACLE! :!: :D

this thing seamed to work!My guitar is starting to shout again! 8) and it's getting fatter too! :P  what a beauty!

Now a question rises: When to stop humidifying it?!? :?: :?:

whoooooo, joyfullness bounce evrywhere, i'm playing hours and hours since a few days, i simply cannot stop, it's fun again!

A setup matter: looking the action\neck from bottom guitar it seams there's a minimal bend at the first fret, i mean a less than 1% angle matter, nearly imperceptible, but i guess it's ok since the sound it's coming out clearly, am i wrong? Also the bridge seams taller of a couple of millimeters at most on the low e side, in fact it's a very little taller than the higher moustache and a little smaller than the lower one, but i guess it's meant to be this way too... maybe a little setup it's needed anyway, am i wrong?

(anyway i may be a little of topic, but i want to share my modest opinion. i'm trying my way into gipsy picking, and i simply can't understand how some people could find it harder... Yes maybe it's a little more challenging to run through the neck at lightning speed, but at least as a beginner this tecnique keeps me on track, and force me to play all the notes correctly end clearly... infact a few thing finally are coming out clearly, and sure it's a lot of fun! I've never enjoyed studying this much!)

Be careful to not over humidify your guitar. Too much humidity can cause sound and structural problems as well. My guitars sound dead when the humidity is very high. I found that using an Oasis in the hole humidifier keeps my case humidity at between 35 and 40 percent relative humidity, which is ideal. I use them during the seasons that require heating the home.

You might want to check their web-site:

Or, put a small digital humidity gauge in the case near the cutaway.
