What kind of strings are these??

I have just inherited a set of gypsy strings in a non labeld wrapping,,they appear to be like argentines only these have purple silk\cotten windings around the stem ,,they are great,so if any of you out ther knows what kind these are i would be happy to get some info on them,,,Bon Swing
