Crank up that dusty old gramophone in the attic and be transported back to those fabulous days of yesteryear. Inspired by golden days of Art Deco, F. Scott Fitzgerald's heralded Jazz Age, speakeasies, the swinging 30s and 40s. Their artful vocal and instrumental acoustic arrangements put a fresh spin on standards, undiscovered gems and their unique compositions. Their nostalgic world music includes; hot and gypsy jazz, delta and jump blues, swing, big band, ragtime, tango, Latin, flamenco, Dixieland, western swing and bluegrass, klezmer, Hawaiian, Calypso, Italian, French, etc. Truly an ethno musicological and historical extravaganza!
Equally at home in a concert, vaudeville, dance, wedding, party, corporate function, wholesome family event or their specially themed interactive theater production. One of their priorities is providing of music for dancers (swing, tango, tap, etc.) as well as theater style dance performances. Musical and show content are tooled towards a venue and an audience's makeup. There is no act quite like this in the area as the instrumentation is varied and goals are a balance of authenticity mixed with forward looking originality, tongue in cheek sensibilities as well as putting on a show. They are entertainers rather than performers. To call this a band is to only have part of the picture. Their show NOCTURNE AT THE GRAMOPHONIUM guarantees to put a smile on your face and a song in your heart! Make it a true nostalgia event and come dressed to impress in your 1920s-40s best or evening wear.
Featuring: Group leader and steel guitarist Adriel Irmiah Azure, our regular guitarists Jack Soref also of Sinti Rhythm and Fabien Aubrey also of the Chicken Thieves, Davron Monroe and Kaedon Gray on vocals and special guest; upright bassist Matt Edwards.
We may release a concert DVD/CD aso make sure you hoot, holler and sing along. You might just be immortalized!
