There's what looks like an interesting two-part programme starting this week on UK's BBC Radio 4 at 1:30pm on Tuesday January 4th called "
Music in the Dark Years".
According to the BBC blurb: 'Stephen Johnson explores how Paris's vibrant musical scene survived - and flourished - through the 'dark years' of Nazi Occupation'.
The BBC blurb refers directly to Django, so one assumes he'll feature in this first episode. For more info:

In Part II of the programme, to be broadcast on the 11th January, it says 'Stephen also visits the famous bar "Le Chope Des Puces" in North-West Paris for some live jazz and a celebration of the life of the extraordinary gypsy jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, who despite being 'undesirable' to the Nazi regime - and having only three fingers on one hand - became one of the most famous and revered musical celebrities in all of France'. The well known gypsy jazz scene author Michael Dregni is also listed as a contributor. For more info:

On the strength of that, both episodes sounds well worth listening to.

Why do they always say that? Anyway, looks like a great show, can't help thinking that the BBC have missed an opportunity over the last year or so. With the way the Beeb is funded and the growing interest in Django a documentary would have been really worth putting together. Stick Stephen Fry on it, get Cooleridge Goode and Beryl Davis interviewed and there ya go.
