V Picks

Picked up a couple of V Picks from Westwood Music in LA. They now make colors as well as the clear ones, and a slightly rounded shape. I got the approx 2.8 mm thick, round tip triangle. Kind of pearl green (turns out it's glow in the dark!) and MOT white. Great feel and tone and the non-slippage grip actually works. $5.00 each. My new favourite pick.

I have tried these as well. Very similar to the dunlop 207 in sound and feel (quite a bit more money though). I think these are pretty good as a general jazz pick. Not so much as an alternative to a wegen, The 2.75mm picks were rather thin sounding compared to the 3.5mm wegen...wouldnt mind trying their 4.1mm some day....

I hear you on the Wegens...just find that material a little too brittle and brite. Most people probably prefer that. They are loud. Even tried real tortoise (found some old pre-war tortoise shell in the attic and made a few picks...didn't like the tone...they feel good though). The V pick has a "softer" feel and has a more mellow tone, which I like...(even prefer old, worn-in strings). After alot of experimenting, the 2.75mm thickness is also my preference.
