thumb pain

the thumb on my picking hand hurts after doing rest strokes for a while. any clues on why or what i might need to change? i don't think i'm double jointed, but my thumb does curve backwards when i hold the pick.

    strange....most people have wrist or forearm issues. My guess is that your grip is too tight. Keep it relaxed...you should feel little or no tension.

    I'm still training myself not to grip the pick too tightly. If I end up holding it too hard my thumb will sometimes get sore from the force of hitting the strings getting transmitted through the pick. I take this pain as a signal to try to relax with right hand.
