If you "thump" the guitar top, you hear a low "boom" that's usually about low G on the 6th string (oval holes), occasionally F#. The larger the soundholes (or more soundholes), the higher the note becomes. Dreadnoughts are at G, SJ-200s maybe F#, OMs maybe A (open 5th string).
I sanded down the top of this one and put two soundports in it. I did something similar in a more experimental fashion to an Altamira along with lots of sanding, varnish, and a vintage flower decal I printed out. It looks crazy. But, I dig it. The holes are also a little less refined, so to speak, than on the Gitane. There is a big square one, a round one, and a few little ones. I'll have to pull it out and take a pic.
I intended to use them at loud jams. But, I haven't taken them out as much as I thought I would. It's almost not fair to the other players because they are so loud.
