This site gets 100 djangointernets. Respect to the guys who made it.

http://www.grilles-manouches.net/Html/A ... _Gone.html

You get the chord sheets, the chord positions, a good rundown of the melody and a playback video.
After you've gone, i've set as the default link, work your way through the tunes on the left.

Excellent site, best online learning resource for new players i've seen so far. That said, if anyone knows a better,or equal, share it....

Edit: The guy on rhythm is slightly rhythmless, but don't let that put you off, there is a bit to be gained

    Good find! 8)
  • Nice list of songs, too. I can imagine that if one spent the time and effort into learning all the heads and chords of all these tunes, they'd have a great foundation of phrases and rhythm for GJ.

This is a great find, it can be very overwhelming to understand all the positions of the chords when you first start into this genre. Definitely a great tool.

    Awesome work

Love this page - changes between the full chords can be quite challenging!

What do the colored box denote? I'm playing through Bossa Dorado right now.

Substitute the chords in the bottom row for the same coloured box in the main body of the chord sheet for a richer backing.

    Ah-ha, thank you CP.

I'm curious - if we're all sitting in a jam, you and I are playing rhythm...I play a Gm6 but you play a flavorful A#dim. Is it going to clash and sound dissonant?

    Gm6 - G,E,Bb,D
    A#DIM - (A#)Bb,E,C#

I was watching Dennis' youtube video of Djangofest 2010 and it looked like he and Joscho were playing differing chords while playing rhythm for Martin Sjöstedt.

theoretically yes it clashes; as to whether your ears will detect the clash depends on a few factors... namely how the rhythm is being played... ie if it's a ballad where the rhytgm playing makes the chord ring a bit, then yes, it'll sound pretty dissonant

but if the chord duration is short then the ear will unlikely detect it...

that said, joscho and i probably should' ve agreed on what chords to use,... in our defense, we only rehearsed a few times before the concert, and in that short period i had to memorize his repertoire and arrangements

    what tune was it anyway?

No means an accusation Dennis. Just trying to put two and two together as I have yet to sit in on a jam. I believe it was Troublant Bolero. I'm very interested in Rhythm playing and love the Bolero and Bossa grooves.

    Wonderful performances by the way.
