Calton Cases (Canada) problem?

badjazzbadjazz Maui, Hawaii USA✭✭✭ AJL
Has anybody else out there tried to do business with Calton Cases in the last year or so? I ordered a case over a year ago and still haven't gotten it yet. Nobody will return my call or emails anymore and I am getting a little worried that my money is just gone forever. Does anybody have any information or recent dealings?

Ian, I'll take that as a good sign that somebody is working there. I was worried that they may have just closed up shop.

Funny, I did actually put there address into mapquest, but the drive is over a day from Chicago.

In other news, this board has some kind of good karma--after all the months of drama with this, the day after I post something here, I get an email this morning saying the guitar has shipped. Sparing you the details as to why I may doubt this, I'll believe it when I see it. I have heard other assurances from them over the months, none of which turned out to be true. But at least it is a response, which is a huge improvement. Of course, this new promise did come after I filed a complaint with the BBB, and told them that I was going to take legal action, too, but I attribute success to this board.

Whether I get the case or not, I would not recommend buying a Calton at this time. I have bought from them in the past and not had any issues, but after doing some other research, it seems that they have been sold and relocated. Others have reported similar extreme problems. Even assuming that I get my case and it is perfect, it has not been worth the aggravation. Maybe in the future they get the details ironed out, but in the meantime I would look into other options.

I had a similar situation. I ordered specifically for a tour. Jim there assured me it was no problem and that it would arrive in plenty of time. Well, the week I was leaving came and they would not respond to any of my emails or phone calls. Finally after I threatened to post nasty things about them all over the internet, Jim emailed me back with an apology and saying that he had hurt his foot in the factory. To make sure I believed him, he sent me a really graphic picture!

Well, I'm a mellow guy and accidents happen and I felt really bad about buggin him, so I told him to just keep me posted. Mind you the whole time on their website, under the order status it says "awaiting shipment". So, my case if finished and just sitting there, waiting for someone to mail it?

Two months later, and not a peep from them, I finally let them know I was going to contact my bank and get my money back... still no response, so that's what I did.

It's really freaking lame of them. Emailing a customer is the easiest thing in the world, and I think most of us guitar players, are pretty mellow people that totally understand when shit happens.

SO if anyone from Calton ever reads this, and if my case is really finished, I will still buy it! I still want it. I'm just not cool with giving you a thousand dollar advance and never hearing back from you.
