Polytone amps?

Anyone tried Polytone amps with a SelMac guitar? I've tried one with a Tele in a local store and liked the ultra warm clean tone. I never see them mentioned here. The MegaBrute is pretty small, light and powerful. I believe there may be some reliability issues with the reverb on some of the older ones?

I've got a very old Polytone MiniBrute V. Haven't tried it with a gypsy guitar, because mine don't have pickups. However, it sounds great with my vintage Epiphone archtop with the Benedetto floating pickup. Very clean and kind of dark. It would probably work well with a GJ guitar. Service may be a challenge if it ever does need it, from what I hear, but mine (bought secondhand) dates back to at least the 80s and is still going strong.

My bandmate has a pickup in his GJ guitar. If I get a chance, I'll try it with the Polytone and report back.

I have a MiniBruteII extension cabinet that sounds great with an AI Clarus head. I used to have the matching amp, but it blew up. I'm convinced a lot of the Polytone sound is in the speaker, as the sound from my x-cab is undeniably Polytone. Doug Martin loves this rig, too, so I have to be careful that it doesn't "accidently" go home with him when he visits

All kiding aside, it does sound wonderfully fat and juicy with my Gitane and K&K Pure Macca pickup
