I second Klaatu's observations about MIchael. Just got a guitar from him and the 48 hour approval was a real anxiety-killer about getting a box sight-unseen. Smooth transaction, great communications, and happy with my new guitar.
As for spending big bucks on eBay, just saw a 2011 Maserati Gran Turismo Convertible currently bidding at $119,000 with eight days left on the bid and not yet meeting the reserve. Now there's big spending for you on a product sight-unseen! I hope they throw in a full tank of gas...
Yes, buying on ebay or other similar sight unseen guitar deals are scary. I've dealt with this in a huge way importing guitars from around the world, sometimes at prices over $20K and there's really no chance to send it back. Yikes! Sometimes there have been surprises but for the most part I never got ripped off. But I mostly stuck to dealing with people I could trust.
