Greetings y'all - this is my first post. I've been enjoying and shopping with Django Books for a couple of years, but just joined the forum. I'm a huge fan of Django (and I actually have a bit of a family connection to the Gitan). I am also really thrilled to learn of the book on Oscar ALeman being put together. I'll never understand why Ivor Mirants was so dismissive of Aleman - I love his music - he had such enthusiasm and charisma and was a great picker!
I am also a huge Eddie Lang fan, having collected all of his recordings. In fact, the first products I bought from Django Books were the two Eddie Lang E-books!
My question (which may have already been answered elsewhere in the forum and I apologize if I haven't found it yet) is if there are any transcriptions of Eddie Lang's tunes? I know Ivor did a handful in the Great Jazz Guitarists, and that there are a couple in Masters of the Plectrum Guitar, but that just isn't enough by perhaps the most important figure in guitar history! Specifically, this morning, I have an urge to learn Eddie's TWister, April Kisses and those awesome chord changes behind Venuti's fiddling in Wildcat. Eddie's single string playing isnt't too hard to pick up by ear when he takes a simple solo in the Whiteman Orchestra or with Emmett Miller, but those chords....!
Thanks for any help anyone can provide. And, of course, if someone were to compile a book of Eddie Lang transcriptions, I'd certainly buy several copies and give them as gifts to friends.
Abut me: I'm a southerner, of mostly French heritage. I'm 33 and a semi-proffessional musician - a also work in journalism and I cook (of course). My twin passions are early jazz and western swing. I look forward to meeting you all!
