Montreal in May

edited April 2011 in North America Posts: 1,238
I'm headed up to Montreal in May (either first or second weekend) and was given permission by the little lady to do a little GJ type stuff. We'd be interested in seeing some music. Any local bands that are worth checking out? Any GJ friendly clubs that I should check out? Stores? etc?

Denis Chang is the Montreal guy to talk to. He's on the forums regularly.

  • If I could postpone my anniversary and significant other's birthday, I'd definitely wait until June. I may be taking a solo trip up there on 6/5.

Just bought my tickets for Rosenberg Trio/Bireli Lagrene. Second trip to Montreal in a year.

it's more than a rosenberg /bireli concert, there will be tons of guests... think of it as america's version of Bireli's Jazz a Vienne DVD...

Tim Kliphuis, Koen De Cauter, some dude from Montreal, and potentially many others that i'll reveal later...

Wonder why the organizers have not listed it here.

the organizers are not gypsy jazz fanatics nor are they bookers by profession, they're just extremely generous people who are making an event like this happen... it's highly unlikely to ever happen again in North America , so come check it out!

I bought my tickets the day I saw it listed on the Rosenberg's site. I would assume someone there would have a clue. Should be as fun a show as last year's show in Montreal.
