There's something about Mayo Hubert's playing i just love(...even when he plays a shit guitar:-)
--such a great 'touch 'and total technical control--i like the way he plays totally in the tradition yet will throw in off the wall rhythmic figures to surprise you--and his sense of time is beautiful-will definitely be looking out for his new soon to be released CD---and laurent Maur on harmonica is awesome too.

Hey Stu! Great clip...thanks for sharing...we saw Mayo with Samson at DFNW a few years back and he blew us away with his playing. Here's a clip from that show, sorry I ran out of space to get all of Mayo's solo...

Enjoyed your clip as well---Samson is incredible as ever but Mayo has something special imho--his solo on "Some of these days" on the Tchavolo cd Louchka is mindblowing.

I pulled up my 2006 "Loutcha" CD by Tchavalo and listened again to the cd and the tune "Some of These Days" and hadn't known that Mayo played that great solo. Yes, I agree that Mayo's new release will be very worth buying given these six more years of probable improvement on his part. Years ago from this cd I transcribed the chord progression and the melody of Tchavalo's faster "march" version of a beautiful but slow, "syrupy" WWI ballad song, "Roses of Picardy" tune and don't know why it is not played more as everyone I've played it for is very appreciative.

Yes Roses of Picardy is a beautiful song--Rodolphe Raffalli also does a nice version
Glad you enjoyed the video--i've been working out the head for Mayos Rue de Sapins and it actually makes a nice exercise for both hands.
