......My preference is Fapy Lafertin's recording of "Coquette" on his CD Fine and Dandy! Tremendous rhythm foundation using basic chords and revealing for this tune in D Major the un-needed Diatonic E minor before the A7 and also unnecessary chromatic movement of Nolin's and Cosimini's charts. Fapy's use of rhythm stabs along with the great violin playing are Hot! Some of the other six versions I have by Birelli, Rosenberg Trio, Cosimini, Borsalino, Django, Gonzalo offer more creative Intros and "technical" solo showmanship and compositional variety, but this tune doesn't need embellishment beyond the FAPY treatment! I really like his step up from Key of D to Eb and back to D!
......Thoughts?
