The writer Jonathan Kellerman has four Selmers, 1932 Concert, 1933 Orchestre, 1934 Hawaienne and 1951 Oval Hole number 849. All are in excellent condition.
When did Selmers take off in the vintage guitar market? I remember seeing the occasional one listed in mags, etc in the 70's, but I think they were below the radar at that time.
Swang on,
In one interview, Jorgenson said he paid $2000 for his Selmer petite bouche in 1979.

They started to really gain value in the 80s and then escalated exponentially. In the late 50s, the 60s and for most of the 70s, they were just considered an old guitar.
Thanks guys, what I get from this thread is that there are at least quite a few going unaccounted for and possibly some floating around America somewhere. Once again, thanks...you've just justified another 10 years of Antique Store, Flea Market, and Garage Sale visits much to the chagrin of my loving wife  .
So the real Jessica Fletcher issue here is unlocking the knowledge of collectors holding Selmers.
I would encourage any 'lurkers' (hate that term, but people who are not forum members) to setup an account and share if you are, or know, a collector currently holding a Selmer.
That Mandolin Bros ad is awesome. I think Eric Clapton may have sold one in his recent auction....or maybe not. Just tried to check the catalog online and couldn't find one. Thought I remember reading he had one.

Swang on,
There was no Selmer in the recent Clapton auction. I checked through the whole catalog beforehand.

I'm almost sure Clapton had a Dupont MD-20 or some such Dupont model, but never had an actual Selmer. I think someone (a bluegrass player if I'm not mistaken) won it as a prize at a Clapton Christie's auction.

Lucky guy. I've got a '94 MD-20 which is one of the best Duponts I've ever played.

Love that word used in it's proper context.
