Is there a brand of gypsy jazz strings that does not have a G that's wounded ?
I doubt it.
Funny you should ask, though. My bandmate, who is an electric player most of the time, constantly complains about the wound G string. He used to replace his with an unwound string and finally found some extremely light gauge wound strings.
I once accidentally bought a set of electric strings for my archtop that turned out to have an unwound G. Couldn't stand it.

For what it's worth, I've installed 3 sets of Daddario's new loop end strings, and EVERY SINGLE HIGH E STRING'S LOOP END SNAPPED AT THE WINDINGS AS I TUNED UP!!! I've had no problem with the Argies' high E on the same guitar. I just emailed Daddario, and am curious to see how they respond.
I've had lots of problems with D'Addario guitar strings of all types. I won't go near them now. I like their Helicore strings for cello and double bass, though.

Interesting. I've never had problems with their bronze strings, which I use on my Martin and my Epiphone Triumph. Didn't care for their gypsy strings, though. Very stiff compared to the Argies, probably due to the hex core.
