Django Critics Anthology

Hey everyone,

I'm about to start looking around for writing on Django's guitar playing from his contemporaries. Does anyone know of an anthology of articles on people reviewing/critiquing Django's performances exists? (I.e. Jazz periodicals, magazines, essays, books, etc)

I'm not looking for anything heavy into theory (I know Ben Givan has a comprehensive book that is theory-heavy)--just articles/publications from people that heard him first hand or from scholars who studied his music and offered their opinions.

The bibliography of any of Dregni's books on Django and gypsy jazz probably have most newspaper and magazine sources listed. I'd start there.

Ted Cherrett's "The Genius That Was Django" is what you're looking for. It's out of print but you may be able to find a used copy
