New Guitar...

Through the wonders of eBay and of being in the right place at the right time I've now sold the Gitane DG 250M and have an early Manouche Moreno (#22 if I'm reading the label right: it says "022 RH" and has the initials MJ on there, too).

I first played one of these about five or six years ago (it could even have been this exact one) back at John Vickers' shop in Cheltenham. We jammed for half an hour or so and I knew then I wanted one of these guitars. Couldn't afford it then and went the Gitane route instead. When Manouche Guitars folded I figured that I'd never get one...then lo and behold this one came up on eBay a few weeks ago, I put in a tentative bid and won. Couldn't believe I was the only bidder, and am still grinning at the price I got it for. It's in unbeliveable condition. Looks like it's hardly been played.

Still need to learn how to drive the darn thing, though.

Derek

Congrats! I have always maintained that those early Manouche Moreno guitars were terrific, and better by far than any other factory guitar I have tried. I recently got to play the first Manouche I bought (#64) at Django in June, thanks to the kindness of it's current owner, and I still liked it...alot.
I've never been a guitar player, but I've played one on stage.

Blimey. Found the listing and it looks like you've had a bit of a result there! I think the lack of interest was due to the way it was listed, well sniffed out that man! The proceeds went to charity as well, so everyone is a winner. Cool beans.

Congrats: I own the N. 20, which makes us relatives!

That was a magic batch: I also own a Dupont and a Eimers, both custom made and the Manouche is definitely not intimidated by them... :D
