This guy is brillant. Straight in the footsteps of the Selmer 607 generation mixing up Django's style with more modern concepts.

I have to second the sentiments of Joli Gadjo. I have been living in Paris the last couple months and had the pleasure of playing with and listening to Aurelien on a couple occasions and he has always impressed me with his creativity, chops, and rhythmic sense. Definitely a special player worth checking out.

    Best,

  • Very nice. I've bought this on Monday to listen to during my subway shuffle.

The album contains the familiar classics: Coquette, Minor Swing, Them There Eyes...no real surprises in terms of song choice. You can check out the complete listing in either the iTunes or Amazon links above. The recording is crisp and clean and the players are very good. Comparisons to the Selmer 607 players is right on the money, although its not quite as over the top as some of his contemporaries. That's not to say that it isn't as good. This is just a nice medium between the flash and modern phrasing of the newer generation and some classic phrasing and I dig it.

All in all, it is certainly worth a listen for that price.

wow, thank you guys for answering here, and answering as you did, i'm deeply touched !

    THANK YOU !!!

So, the history of this album is simple:

thre's about on,less than 4 years, I didn't know that playing gipsy jazz meant playing on a gipsy guitar !!! so i bought one, the cheapiest one, without any project, like perfoming in this style (i was kind of Sylvain Luc addict), it was just a work and a feeling like frustation, beacause I loved gipsy jazz for many years but realised i didn't know how to play like all these guys !!!

In November last year I decided to sell all my guitars, and gipsy guitars, to buy a Godin.
In December i decided to keep them.
In Februar I decided to record.
In April I did record the album.
Kind of a therapy for me, good therapy beacause I still want to record two albums in one year in this style before coming back (or not?) to my beginner style, kind of rock-jazz (and not jazz-rock)...

I don't know, but I must say, since I'm a musician as a professionnal, 3 years ago, everything I listen, every people I meet, everything i play, is like a mountain to walk while having the most beautiful view in the world: nevermind where I stop, I saw it , i see it, i hope to go there too.
