My new Hoffee Case

I just got my new carbon fiber Hoffee flight case, and lemme tell you all, the search for a kick ass flight case for your favorite guitar stops here!

I had ordered a Calton case almost 6 months ago. The details of my exchange are in a different post, but suffice to say, after an awful experience with them, I got the good folks (not really) at Chase bank to refund my payment.

That lead me to a serious geek out session evaluating the various flight cases on the market. After reading a ton, I emailed Jeff Hoffee at Hoffee cases and he immediately told me that he could have my case to me in three weeks... yeah right I thought, but went ahead because he just seemed really cool. Well, it was actually less than three weeks and today it is here!

I have been traveling a bunch with my band Noah and the MegaFauna (http://www.noahandthemegafauna.com) and play a Rodrigo Shopis D hole and flying with it is a bit of a nightmare. I figured if I'm going to keep traveling, it's time to protect my investment. That lead me to Hoffee and I really couldn't be happier. It is tough as nails! I stood on top of it with my guitar inside and the case felt totally secure, and the guitar was still perfectly in tune when I pulled it out! The fit is perfect and there is plenty of cushion around the guitar as the picture above demonstrates. I went for a white case, the theory being that the light color can reflect heat and keep my guitar safe and cool. At just over 800 bucks, it was the same price as Calton, and it is made from carbon fiber, which there's is not.

I would recommend this case to anyone, for any guitar! It is really amazing. Just so you know, it's not "light". It's not a back breaker either, it feels secure and tough and ready for the road. It's also sleek and damn sexy if I do say so myself.

IMHO the search for a good flight case ends here. I'm sure Kaura and Accord are great too, but Jeff is a guy in Illinois making cases from all American parts and again, my case was done in 3 WEEKS!!!! AMAZING!!!!

Adios Calton!
Here's an awesome video of Jeff demonstrating the resilience of his cases:

at about 3:50 he drives over it with an SUV.... Awesome!
