Diz Dizley "Live at the White Bear"~ 1958

Was listening to this recording the other day and was struck by the great feel that Diz Dizley had; this recording in particular has that classic old Gypsy guitar sound that is unique to this music. This one is well worth getting and though it's not currently available at Djangobooks, it is available and very listenable. Sounds like Diz was playing a Selmer on this recording?

He certainly had at least one Selmer but somehow managed to "lose" it/them. :roll:

Agree with Phil. The Diz Disley recordings have a great feel and it's nice to see re-release of this material. Saw Diz on TV in NZ back in the early 70's when he came thru town playing with Stephane Grapelli. In those days there was only one b&w channel (NZBC) that went off air about 10:00 pm weeknights. They they broadcast some nice live music occasionally. Didn't really know what I was experiencing but was blown away by the swinging sound and musicianship (too hung up on blues and R&R at the time to know any better). Always remembered the name Diz Dizley as one of the great, relatively unknown guitarists.
