We play this tune with a Db7 before the C7, somewhat similar to My melancholy baby. It adds a nice 'drive' to the flow of the song.

The Rosenberg trio version on the album Roots is out of this world!

And here's some other great versions:

Dorado Schmidt on the album 'Family'

Rosenberg (Mozes) van Mullem on the album 'Obsession'

Steeve Laffont on the album 'New Quitette'

Rhythm Futur Quartet on their debut album

Dorado and Amati Schmidt on the album Sinti Du Monde

That's a nice chromatic touch with the Dflat7, Carlo. Thanks for sharing that, as well as the nods to the hot versions.

Db7 is a must for me, I'm surprised I didn't mention it earlier. Adds such nice flavor.

Thanks dude. By the way, and I corrected it in that thread, the old "tune of the month" thread wasn't moderated by Jack Soref. Jack S righted me. It was Jack Brown, then a rhythm guitar player, nowadays graphic artist and illustrator.

I think I mistakenly sent a PM to Jack B a few months back when I was thinking he was Jack S. So you might not be the only one who had the 2 profiles confused.

This backing track from Guitare Improvisation doesn't have the Db7, but it does have a V7 in the second measure of the A (though not the ii in the turnaround of the 1st A).

I'm away from my guitar, but I'm thinking I'd like the Bb7 in meas. 2 and the Db7 in meas. 3 both. It would give the rhythm a little more bass movement...thoughts from soloists here? Too much? Would you exclude that Bb7 if you were playing the Db7?
