I purchased Gypsy Fire a few weeks ago and have started to introduce some of the licks into my solos. This is me playing over two rounds of Django's Tiger, any adivce on how to improve would be much appreciated. At the moment I tend to stick to licks and arrpegios.

Nice playing and cool vintage sound on the recording!

I think you incorporated some of the Gypsy Fire ideas very well in that solo, that's the point with the licks in the book..to really get them into your own style and to play in and out of them.

I'm working on a new book right now called "Gypsy Bop" with a lot of new licks that are slightly more modern but can still be played with the gypsy picking technique.

The next step for you might be to learn phrases right off videos and cd's (not using any TAB or score). This will really expand your ears but might be hard at first if you're not used to it.

    Good luck and keep swingin'!
