I called SAGA about the warranty.. they gave me a song and dance and never answered the question

Their comment was take it to a dealer and they will contact us..

I said I wanrted to know before I bought one

I asked very specific questions and got NO answers

Called 5 dealers... 5 different answers

no where on the guitar opr their website is there any warranty information

As much as I trust Micheal... I would like to see this in writing from the maker/distruibutor
and no specific written warranty is a deal breaker to me...
must be my 25 years in the car biz.....

    From Saga:

Here’s some answers regarding Retail Customer Warranties:

    What does it cover?

As with the Dealer’s Warranty Instruments are covered by a one year Limited Warranty against defects in workmanship and materials. We have the option of repairing or replacing the instrument.

What is the protocol for sending a guitar back?

Your customer would contact you. You would then contact me. I would fill out the paperwork and our Customer Service Dept. would issue a Return Merchandise Authorization (RMA) number. You or your customer would then ship the item back to us with the RMA number on the outside of the box. We would not be responsible for the freight to get the item here however we would pay the return freight.

    Parts?

    We pay for the parts.

    Exclusions?

Strings, skin heads, normal finish aging, crazing are excluded. Also abuse, normal wear, normal changes due to climate, preventable weather caused cracks and seam separations are excluded. Also the instrument must be in the original, unaltered condition when it reaches our warehouse. An improper installation of a strap button can cause a truss rod rattle for instance.

Again.. niowhere on the SGA site does it say anything...

    Dealers' Warranty ?

Is that the same as the Customer's Warranty
Parts.. goes without saying... but not labor ?

Either ambiguous or non specific or excluded or ??

I would like to see their warranty in writing from SAGA...

    Too nebulous for me.

    Trust and verify

    They pay labor....

I would like to see their warranty in writing from SAGA...

Here's the exact wording from there dealer info:

    LIMITED WARRANTY
Terms of the Saga Limited Warranty
Please read the Limited Warranty carefully.
Most instruments are covered by a one
year Limited Warranty against defects in
workmanship and materials to the original
    retail purchaser. Specific remedies
include repair or replacement at our
option. The customer is responsible for
    freight in both directions.
Some items, such as strings and natural
skin heads, and some types of “defects,”
such as normal finish aging and crazing,
    are specifically excluded. Abuse, normal
wear, normal changes due to climate, preventable
    weather-caused cracks and seam
    separations, etc., are also excluded.
    Many potential problems and possible
    misunderstandings may be avoided when
the selling dealer explains proper care
and maintenance to the consumer at the
    time of sale.

    There's the crazing again!

They told me the customer only pays shipping one way....not sure why the dealer info says both ways.

OK I appreciate and understand the "dealer" info but here is NO customer warranty info available

this may seem like splitting hairs but it is not

where is there a document specifically written for and handed to the customer

IE a warranty card and registration form like the dozens if not hundreds of other manufacturers have

SAGA is not in the main stream

Maybe I am being thick but 25 years in the car biz.. mostly working directly for manufacturers as a field rep... show me the customers warranty.,,. no tickee no laundry....

    Thanks for the info Michael...

now have SAGA send me a copy of the warranty.. directly form them

BTW this very same discussion about SAGA's Goldstar banjo has
hundreds of posts on the banjohangout.. and still no answer there...
