I don't know if I learned it from jams or a chart but that's what I always played and from what I can remember people around me would too. But it's kinda the same thing no? Straightforward way would be Adim to A7.
The Adim7 to A7 is the original chord progression in the classical piece. I don't remember if Django played it that way originally but, if you got it from Django, I guess he did.
This is re-harmonization. It’s similar to how some people play minor swing the 2nd time around by playing dmin7 g7 cmaj fmaj bmin7b5 e7. It’s a way to move through the circle of 5ths to arrive at a desired location.
Here's some opinionated editorializing: I actually like the original chords, because they're different-sounding from most jazz tunes. The more modern version sounds generic; I feel like someone wanted to fit the song into a boilerplate jazz progression, as opposed to taking advantage of the classical composer's conception of harmony.
Way back, Stochelo recorded an arrangement of Manoir de Mes Reves, in which he changed the beautiful chords of the first part of the song to D, Bm7, Em7, A7. That arrangement eliminated the original interesting harmonic progression (created by Django, who composed the song!), in favor of one of the most common progressions in music.
I prefer the original myself. It’s definitely a taste thing, but I think a lot of people have a knee jerk reaction to putting a iimin7 before every v7, because they think that’s what’s your supposed to do. I’ve been guilty of that muse, but I’m starting to break free. With that said, I love a good reharm.
@Azazzell Did you remove these Anki decks. I was trying to think of ways to increase my practice time when I have to be away from the guitar and I remembered this thread. When I went to the link you shared, it didn't produce a result.
Yeah, AnkiWeb deletes shared decks after a while if they have no downloads. Here, I attached an archive of the apkg file so that you can import it directly into Anki.

I was just using this backing track:

Looks like AnkiWeb removed them automatically:
Reshared it. Apparently it takes 24 hours to become visible to the public.
I can't download this deck...please help me.
