I had the fortune of sitting 5 feet directly in front of Bireli last night at Jazz Alley and, Wow! Every note was played with so much authority and meaning, even despite the seemingly impossible gymnastics. To have his monitor 12 inches from my knee was an intense visceral experience as his electric guitar went from the quietest brushing of the thumb to a blaring wall of sound that hit my face and chest. At times I tried to follow where the downbeat was, but was cast away on tangential harmonies, melodies and rhythms only to be returned to the downbeat by the master who never lost the time.
If the video is the one of Bireli and Martin doing their studeio session for KNKX, simply go to knkx.org and you will see an article posted. Click on the music link and then studio sessions and it is there as well.

Alas! It looks like I won't be at DjangoFest after all. Not feeling my best this week.

Same here, private.
