Hi,
transcribed the intro from the Django recording, thought it might be helpful to someone.
As most people play it in D minor nowadays the flageolet on the high e string is not possible so i came up with two solutions. One with fretted notes and one with a different flageolet:

Nice work getting in that Eb harmonic.
I haven't heard flageolet in ages lol.
I see now, the original is in Eb-
I'm slow this morning...
I love his little out of scale major dyad in there that most people call a mistake. I can see it being purposeful.
I agree! Doesn't sound like a mistake at all to me and i llve the little "dramaturgy".
Had a third idea for d minor. A bit removed from the original but i kinda like it. Picked up the wholetone sound from the last chord a bit earlier:
Ooh I like the attitude in the last one. And I like the whole-tone walk, sounds really nice.
There's also this, a pinch flageolet of sorts. If flageolet= harmonic, and I think this trick is referred to as a pinch harmonic, vs natural harmonic.
I doubt Django would leave a mistake on the recording. Improv mistake yes, but not something he composed. I think that's exactly how he intended it to be.
Yes, cool idea indeed!
That’s an artificial harmonic.
Pinch harmonic is a different technique, where the picking thumb sort of brushes the string on attack. It’s more common on an electric with a lot of distortion, they’re not very effective on an acoustic guitar.
So then he played a pinch harmonic in his original video.
Make it public man, it's awesome!
Haha, i'll rather leave it unlisted for this exclusive club here.
No, that in the first two intro videos were natural harmonics :)
