I recently took my 11 year old daughter to her first concert (The Indigo Girls, she's a huge fan of theirs. They were superb, and they shared the bill with Melissa Etheredge, who was also very good). I saw the joy in my daughter's face throughout the show and I witnessed what a positive impact the power & beauty of live music had on her. It reminded me of my first concert, my dad took me to see KISS (ha!) when I was 10. All of this got me thinking about what a magical and memorable experience a first concert can be. So the question is, what was your first concert? And what, if any, cool memories do you have from it? I'm always interested in how musicians are shaped and molded by their experiences, especially early on.

"Ten Years After" at the Circus Krone in Munich 1970, if my memory serves me correctly.
The first big concert was Metallica in 1999, Garage Inc. tour. Monster Magnet was opening. I'd been to a few local punk concerts beforehand.
Squeeze, with Jools Holland on keys, sometime in the mid-80s.
Stones. Greensboro. ‘77
Assuming you ignore seeing Raffi or, Sharon Lois and Bram as a young child.
Gob at the El Mocambo '99. Sum 41 opened. I'm not even sure their first album was out yet.
Bon Jovi!!! Slippery When Wet tour with Skid Row opening lmao
Not that anyone would know the band but it was a concert of Riblja Čorba, which translates as Fish Stew.
1961 I went to a concert in Cork organised for school children by the Catholic Church and one of the acts was a lad named Rory Gallagher from another school playing an accoustic guitar and singing . I was still in short trousers and probably so was he.
This was before Rory got into the blues. I think he sang Don Gibson's Sea of Heartbreak - a hit that year.
