I used to love those Tony Rice strings. It was back a long time ago when I didn't have any good guitars and I haven't tried them in forever. Maybe I'll get some.

I have the crazy skin chemistry that kills uncoated phosphor bronze or 80/20 bronze strings in minutes. But monels last forever for me. I even liked them on mandolin back when I played that. To me they have a lot of fundamental which doesn’t always sound great in a quiet solo setting, but it works well in a jam.
Serious question, is there a name for that? I have a friend who does that.
When I worked in NYC fixing basses there was one guy who could only use plastic coated upright strings because he could kill a $120 set of strings in like 45 minutes...they would normally do a decade....
Skin chemistry string corrosion issue happens to me too, bronze by far the worst but even nickel corrodes pretty quickly as well.

I've never heard of one before but after working at a music store for nearly 13 years, I'd say like 10%-20% of guitarists have it and with varying degrees of severity - I'd call myself "moderate" but I've met other guitarists like my old boss who'd have to change strings during gigs sometimes because of how quickly his strings would corrode. And then there's the poor folks who have actual nickel allergies too...
